Academic Medical Centers do it for contributions to the science of medicine.  Dedicated research sites live and die by their enrollments, and the conduction of clinical trials IS their business.  What about the rest…rural hospitals, community based hospitals, single or multi-specialty medical groups?  What's the value in clinical trials, and how do you convince your executive team to invest in growth if the balance sheet is full of red ink?
