Description

Human Research Protection Programs (HRPPs) are facing unprecedented challenges in today’s research landscape. From navigating complex reliance agreements and single IRB models to managing resource constraints, protocol deviations, and evolving regulatory expectations, HRPP professionals must do more than enforce rules—they must lead cultural transformation.

This session explores how institutions can build and sustain a culture of compliance that is proactive, resilient, and ethically grounded. Drawing on real-world examples and institutional case studies, we will examine strategies for embedding compliance into daily operations, empowering staff, and aligning oversight with organizational values, even when surrounded by an ever-changing, chaotic landscape. We’ll also address how to measure success, engage stakeholders, and adapt to emerging challenges such as AI in research, decentralized trials, and workforce turnover.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify key components of a successful institutional compliance culture within HRPPs
  2. Evaluate strategies for integrating compliance into daily research operations
  3. Apply tools and metrics to assess the effectiveness of compliance initiatives
  4. Develop action plans for strengthening HRPP oversight
