Dr. Jeanie Magdalena Gatewood is President of Phase I/First-in-Human Clinical Research at Advanced Research Institute and Principal of Gatewood Global, a boutique clinical research strategy firm. A clinical research executive, oncology nurse leader, independent consultant, and scholar-practitioner, she brings more than 25 years of experience spanning frontline care, academic medicine, sponsors, CROs, biotechnology, healthcare technology, and independent research sites.

At Advanced Research Institute, Dr. Gatewood is leading the development and launch of a scalable Phase I/FIH capability, integrating clinical operations, medical oversight, infrastructure, technology, quality and regulatory readiness, workforce development, participant recruitment, and sponsor-facing strategy. ARI itself has grown from its Utah origins into a multi-location research organization with operations across several western U.S. markets.

Her broader work focuses on building high-performing research organizations and translating emerging technologies—including AI, analytics, and digital trial solutions—into practical, human-centered approaches to trial execution, participant identification, and enrollment. She has held senior leadership roles across organizations including IQVIA/Inteliquet, Fox Chase Cancer Center, NYU Langone Health, and AstraZeneca’s Aptium. A frequent international speaker and published thought leader, Dr. Gatewood brings a pragmatic, site-centered perspective to the future of clinical research.
