This presentation will provide an overview of the history Certificates of Confidentiality and the protections they provide. In addition to providing a practical introduction Certificates, what studies are eligible for them, and what disclosures are and are not permitted, the presentation will discuss legal cases involving Certificates and legal analyses that support the Certificates protections. The presentation draws on empirical and legal research.
