Olga I. Balderas is a seasoned legal and research professional with a unique blend of expertise in biomedical research, regulatory compliance, and advocacy for diverse and underserved populations. Currently serving as the IRB Regulatory Chair at WCG IRB, Olga brings over a decade of experience in navigating the legal, ethical, and regulatory challenges in clinical and biomedical research. In this role, Olga chairs board meetings, ensures compliance with federal and state laws, and provides ethical guidance to community Board Members, all while championing the resolution of complex issues related to the review and approval of research protocols.
With a robust academic background, including a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida's Levin College of Law, Olga has demonstrated leadership both within the legal field and in medical research settings. She has contributed significantly to diverse areas of research, particularly in clinical trials, where inclusion of historically excluded populations has been a key focus. Notably, Olga has published works on enhancing diversity in clinical research, while advocating for policy changes that increase representation in clinical trials.
A fluent Spanish speaker and cultural advocate, Olga has worked on legal matters related to immigration has been deeply involved in initiatives aimed at improving community health and wellbeing, especially in Spanish-speaking communities. Through various volunteer and professional roles, Olga has shown a steadfast commitment to improving access to healthcare, legal resources, and educational support for vulnerable groups.
